Dr. Chelsea Donathan, D.O.

Dr. Donathan began her training in internal medicine and emergency medicine almost a decade ago. Due to medical struggles, she was forced to step away and redirect her path.  She returned to medicine and took a position at a critical access hospital in a rural community in West Virginia as a single provider covering the emergency room, hospitalist, and long-term care services. She stayed in this role for two and a half years before taking a very similar short contract in a remote area of northern California where she covered all the same services, but added clinic coverage to her repertoire. A love for rural clinic work developed during this time and the opportunity to take a contract back on the east coast presented itself as the Medical Director of Student Health at Job Corps West Virginia. An avid traveler, Dr. Donathan began looking for a job that required less travel and picked up her NC roots of 10 years and moved to Georgia. With a degree in clinical psychology and addiction, Dr. Donathan brings a trauma informed approach to all of her encounters.

Dr. Donathan believes firmly in collaboration between the health care team, but became very comfortable seeing and treating most conditions while in these rural; communities without any back-up. Her philosophy on collaboration is that everyone went to school for a different purpose and had a unique perspective to bring to the table. People have also lived different life experiences that can make them better equipped to handle different situations.

Dr. Donathan feels God’s calling for exceptional care through her own illness/healing journey has made her acutely aware of patient’s skepticism regarding the field of medicine, not to practice cookie cutter medicine, but to meet patients where they are through informed discussions.

Dr. Donathan does supervisory work of nurse practitioners in the fields of psychiatry and aesthetic medicine. When she has time, she enjoys taking overflow patients and doing coaching with them to help them reach their greatest potential.

On a personal level, she has a cat named Marshall Mathers, loves music/art/dance, and solo traveling.

Mayberry Naturopathy welcomes Dr. Donathan as a vital member to the team to help support patients for primary needs and compassionate care for total wellness.
